Froggies!

I know, long time no posts...but here I am, back with lots of froggy photos to kick off my (hopefully) rediscovered blogging mojo!

We were amazed to discover frogspawn in the pond earlier this year.  It's a bit of a shame that I hadn't cleared out the blanket weed before the frogs did their thing, but they obviously decided it made a good place for their offspring.

It didn't seem to take too long before the tadpoles started to appear...

...and we discovered that we had an actual frog living in the pond, too!

He/she turned out to be rather photogenic and doesn't seem to be bothered by us getting quite close.

Have you guessed that we are rather enamoured by our froggy friend 😉

Then we discovered that froggy had a friend!  Froggy #2 is rather more skittish than froggy #1 and is easily spooked if we get too close.

And just look at that ~ there are actually four frogs living here!

They all seem quite happy sharing this little pond.

Our teensy-tiny pond is a pre-formed affair that we put in the front garden last year.  I'm almost ashamed to admit that we didn't even manage to get it level in the ground, but with it being lopsided we have accidentally created a mini (very mini!) boggy area.  I made this more boggy by burying an opened-up compost bag beneath the soil to help retain more moisture.  I've had a lovely display of ragged robin this year, and the creeping jenny is taking over!  The four frogs obviously like living here, and the birds (especially the sparrows) drink and bathe in this tiny little watering-hole.

All in all, our very imperfect little pond has become a wildlife oasis and we are thrilled 😊
