Aaaaaand.....relax!

Ah, if only that were the case!  Still, I have finally finished sorting through my dolls' house miniatures stash ~ yay!  Everything is now sorted into various plastic crates in a logical way ~ well, logical to me, anyway 😉 ~ ready for the big move.

Can you believe that it is only three weeks now until we leave Hitchin to begin a new life in Stromness?  It feels a tad unreal, to be honest.  We have been wanting to move up there for so long and now the time has almost arrived.  The whole process has been rather stressful, if I'm honest, but perhaps some of that is because we've never had the experience of moving house before.  It's certainly not something that either of us want to do again anytime soon LOL

Adrian has booked the ferry and accommodation for the two overnight stops.  It's over 600 miles from here to Stromness, and we have to get the dog up there too!  Luckily for us, a lovely family friend has volunteered to drive us up 😊  Lyndi is flying down on the 20th and we are leaving here on the 24th.  Beverly (our daughter) is coming down, too, on the 15th and we are all travelling back up to Orkney together.  Our first stop will be in Hamilton on the Wednesday night, Thursday night will be Wick, then on to the catamaran at Gills Bay early on the Friday morning.

I think it may be a somewhat emotional day on the Wednesday, after all we have lived in this house for 34 years and this is the only home the kids have ever known.  Sam seems perfectly fine about the whole thing but I know that Beverly has mixed emotions.  She desperately wants us to live closer to her but is sad that she won't ever be coming back to her childhood home, even though she has lived in Orkney for around eight years now and wouldn't want to move back down south.

Still, we have the next three weeks to get through yet before the big day arrives!  This week will be mostly sorting through my yarn stash and bringing down the contents of the loft 😵

  1. I'm remembering my last move and I do not envy you one tiny bit. So happy to hear that you will end up where you want to be for this stage in life. Best of luck with your sorting!
